Why was a ‘macamba’ [dutch-born Aruban] not used for the role of Joran?

Shonnan [?], I have much admiration and respect towards certain things that go on in Holland, but obviously there are also many things that are onterecht [underserved]…with a lot of emphasis on onterecht!
A few minutes ago, Nederland 2 (AVRO) just aired the program called ‘Opsporing Verzocht’ [watch video here] which dedicated an hour to the matter of Natalee Holloway.
The did a dramatization of the event, which is something very normal (almost) like they always have the habit of doing.
They used a group of blond macamba kids to portray the American students.
However, the youngster they used to portray Joran v/d Sloot…wasn’t a macamba! He wasn’t white either, someone who could pass for a Dutch European.
They used an actor completely different, of Aruban appearance, light brown skinned, to pass as Joran.
Why didn’t they use a Macamba?
As well known as this case may be, there are thousands of macambas here who have never heard of this case, and I guarantee you that ALL will think that the suspect must be an Aruban or a non-macamba person! Arubans have to protest against this.
As a television producer, I am extremely obstinate with this. Why didn’t they put a girl of ‘latin’ or Aruban appearance instead of a blond who REALLY could look to be American? Then why didn’t the actor look like a macamba?
Finally, I want to be clear that I have nothing against Joran. I even posed for a picture with him, and I will go as far as saying that for me, Joran is 99.9% innocent.
My problem is with AVRO who always try to use actors who come as ‘close as possible’ in their program, this time put thousands of viewers who don’t know of the case to think that it has to do with an Aruban, or in any case a non-Dutch person, then this is NOT fair.

Holloway reconstruction in race row
12 April 2006
AMSTERDAM — The government of the Netherlands Antilles has reacted angrily to the broadcast of a television appeal for information about the disappearance of American Natalee Holloway.
A non-white actor played the role of white Dutch teenager Joran van der Sloot, 18, in the re-enactment of the final hours prior to 18-year-old Holloway vanishing on the Dutch autonomous island of Aruba in the Caribbean.
Van der Sloot was one of the three youths Holloway left a nightclub in a car with on 30 May 2005. She has not been seen since. The other two in the car were Surinamese brothers Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18.
The re-enactment was featured on a special edition of Dutch crime-stoppers programme 'Opsporing Verzocht' on Tuesday evening. It was broadcast on Aruba hours later.
A Dutch police spokesperson said the broadcast in the Netherlands generated 50 tips from the public by Wednesday morning.
The Antillean government in Willemstad, Curacao accused prosecutors who cooperated with the programme of distorting the facts by not using a white actor, RTL Nieuws reported.
Aruba broke away from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 and became an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
