Natalee Holloway case stressfully continues
Dutch experts conclude ‘Dr. Phil’ tape ‘doctored’
Aruba Today
11/25/2005
ORANJESTAD – The island of Aruba continues to grieve with the mother and family of the missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.
The most recent update includes forensic investigators in Holland having found that someone altered a taped interview in which a Surinamese man allegedly claimed to have had sex with a U.S. teen who disappeared while visiting Aruba, the island’s police chief said Wednesday.
The tape was an interview with Deepak Kalpoe in July of this year by an investigator Jamie Skeeters hired by the U.S. television program, the “Dr. Phil” show. In it, Deepak allegedly claimed to have had sex with Natalee Holloway,
an Alabama honors student, before she disappeared in May.
The findings of the investigator were never revealed to the Aruban authorities until after Dr. Phil had the missing teen’s mother Beth Twitty on his program 2 months after the alleged confession.
The Aruban Authorities stated after hearing of the Dr. Phil show in early September of this year, that none of the suspects had admitted at any time of having sex with the missing teen and that this confession collected by Dr.
Phil’s team would be a critical piece of information to the investigation. The Aruban Authorities were surprised that such an important piece of evidence could be withheld for 2 months, and then presented on a talk show before turning
it in as evidence to the case.
It took a month to receive the original DVDs from the investigator and then were sent to Holland for verification. “The tapes played on U.S. television appear to have been altered to suggest Deepak admitted to a sexual act, our forensic investigators tell us, the original tape did not say that,” Gerald Dompig, the chief of police for this Dutch Caribbean island, said in a statement.
On the tape, Deepak allegedly says Holloway “dressed like a slut,” and that he, his brother, Satish, and Dutch national Joran van der Sloot had sex with Holloway, who would have turned 19 in October.
“I have reviewed the findings of the Forensic Institute in Holland ... those results state that the tapes were not authentic in regard to statement made by Deepak
Kalpoe,” Dompig said.
A spokesman for the “Dr. Phil” show had no immediate comment.
“We have asked the FBI to review the same tapes to corroborate the conclusion reached by our Dutch forensic investigators,” the statement said.
Holloway was last seen early on May 30 leaving a bar with van der Sloot and Surinamese Kalpoe brothers. They were arrested on June 9 but released after a court ruled there was not enough evidence to hold them.
Island-wide Searches of the island failed to find the missing teenager.
Alabama Gov. Bob Riley has called for a travel boycott of the island because of how the case was handled.
Holloway’s family accuse the island’s government of not fully cooperating with the investigation into her disappearance.
Aruban officials have criticized the boycott, disputing charges the case was mishandled.
Gov. Riley has sent letters to his fellow governors across the country, urging them to support his boycott of Aruba on behalf of the family of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.
In the letters, Riley blames the Aruban government for what he called “missteps, miscommunication and inconsistencies” plaguing the investigation into the 18-yearold’s disappearance.
Holloway, of suburban Birmingham, was last seen leaving a bar with three young men from Aruba during a high school graduation trip to the island May 30. Each of the three was later taken into custody but has since been released.
Riley, in his letter sent last Friday, said Aruban authorities are no longer communicating with Holloway’s family and are not providing information about the status of the investigation.
Holloway’s family initially praised Aruban authorities for their work on the case, but they recently turned critical, alleging incompetence and conflicts of interest.
The boycott has failed to get support from the U.S. State Department.
Jeff Emerson, Riley’s communications director, said this week that the governor had not yet received any feedback from the other governors.

Official release of Strategic Communications Task Force
A.M. Digital
11/26/2005
Referring to the support proposal of mrs. Lisa Chiafullo, an American citizen, in which she asks to boycott mrs. Beth Twitty in the US communication media; and considering that mrs. Chiafullo’s initiative became known in Aruba, the Strategic Communications Task Force (SCTF) wishes to clarify its positions by means of this release.
SCTF appreciates all those that provide support to safeguard the good name of Aruba. Although we support the intention behind some of mrs. Chiafullo’s expressions of the last few days, we maintain our position that the focus must remain on the investigation efforts that are done in an orderly manner and according to the legal process which is based on real facts. We trust fully that justice will prevail and that it will serve the interests of our island. We prefer to have this position instead of calls for equal time in the media or calls for boycotting Natalee’s family.
Since the beginning SCTF has maintained its objective to assure that the truth, based on solid information, is distributed to all that are involved and/or interested in the case of disappearance of Natalee Holloway. We feel that it is imperative that the Investigation Team can continue with their investigations, that are still ongoing, in order to solve this case.

According to ATIA release
Dr. Phil was accused of sexual abuse
DIARIO Aruba
11/24/2005
ORANJESTAD (AAN): Recently, Aruba Trade & Industry Association (ATIA) put out a press released about the Governor of Alabama.
Bob Riley asked for a boycott against Aruba, were he said that we in Aruba understand the pain of Natalee Holloway’s mother, however, the Governor in this way took a decision that will affect the lives of millions of people, cannot take decisions on the basis of a sad mother’s emotions.
He has to better inform himself, before threatening the livelihoods of 100,000 people in Aruba.
The release also says that ATIA strongly condemns the irresponsible and unprofessional declarations made by Bob Riley.
Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, also followed the petition of the Governor and asked for a boycott of Aruba.
His show only portrayed one side of the story of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, without trying to find out the correct facts.
The former therapist stopped giving therapy in 1989, after the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists publicly pulled his attention.
This was due to the fact that he was under accusations of sexual abuse.
[ed. false allegations - read the real story here]
The accusation was on the part of a former patient of Dr. Phil, after which Dr. Phil was placed under supervision. He had to undergo physical and psychological tests, as well as follow ethics lessons.
Dr. Phil also found himself under cases of damages and prejudice against his person by the unjust imprisonment [ed. case dismissed without prejudice] of Laurie Bembenek [ed. convicted killer], while he also owed private jet bills of $132,962.
ATIA continues to say that while they don’t give much value to Dr. Phil’s opinions, all this has a negative effect for Aruba, given that millions of people watch his show.
They also say that doing harm to Aruba will not help solve this case.
ATIA also said in its release that they have full confidence in the police corps and the prosecution’s office that are working on the case, given that our legal system has showed for long years that it is the best in the world.

FBI recording was not the correct one
Dr. Phil manipulated the recording used in his program
DIARIO Aruba
11/24/2005
ORANJESTAD (AAN): In the afternoon hours of yesterday, authorities in Aruba received the results of the investigation authorities in Holland conducted on two tapes recorded in an illegal manner where one of the Kalpoe brothers gave one or more declarations.
These declarations arrived to the hands of Dr. Phil who took these and played with them so that declarations are such that they implicate the Kalpoe suspect in the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
Everything started when a private detective by the last name of Skeeters was able to convince one of the Kalpoe brothers to go to his hotel room where they had everything prepared with a hidden camera in such a way that they did an illegal recording which afterwards was aired on the Dr. Phil show.
On the basis of telling one of the Kalpoe brothers that he wanted to do a movie on the whole case, where the Kalpoe brother will become famous, the trap was set because the latter didn’t know that he was dealing with a private detective paid for by Natalee’s family.
After the recording was passed, the FBI obtained a copy of what was aired on the Dr. Phil show, whuile local authorities obtained the original recording that private detective Skeeters gave to Dr. Phil and no one touched.
Both were sent to Holland, when yesterday in the afternoon hours the results came that the tape used on the Dr. Phil show was manipulated.
This will surely become something which will lower Dr. Phil’s credibility and worse still that now there is an action by an American citizen who has decided to boycott Beth Twitty, is showing the other side of the coin related to the whole case of Natalee that Beth is using for another objective.

Dr. Phil showed altered video tape
A.M. Digital
11/25/2005
In this press release the Public Prosecutor’s Office provides the official results of the investigation done by the Dutch Forensic Institute. This Institute investigated the tapes in which a suspect in the N. Holloway case talks with a private investigator on tape. This interview was later shown in a couple of television programmes.
The Dutch Forensic Institute analyzed and compared a video-cd of the private investigator and a tape provided by the FBI which had the interview with the suspect on it with the interview with the suspect that was shown in the programmes of Dr Phil and Rita Cosby.
The results of this investigation are as follows. There are no differences between the interview with the suspect D.K. as shown in the video-cd of the private investigator and the tape provided by the FBI. There are also no indications that manipulation of the images took place.
The Dutch Forensic Institute also concluded that in the case of the interview shown in the programmes of Dr. Phil and Rita Cosby the images were manipulated. These images differ from the ones in the video-cd and tape provided by the FBI.
Editor’s note: The conclusion obviously is that the interview with Depak Kalpoe that was aired on the Dr. Phil show recently, with Beth Twitty present, was not the original interview as Dr. Phil and his investigator Skeeters pretended it to be. The tape was tampered with and altered to let it appear that Kalpoe said something that in reality he did not. How low can you go, Dr. Phil? And…..was Beth Twitty aware of this violation of privacy?

Behold the “bla bla bla they are speaking about Jossy” which was published November 17 2005...in Birmingham, Alabama
Solo di Pueblo
11/23/2005
STA. CRUZ – When we said that sooner or later things would backfire on certain Arubans who are greatly cooperating with Beth and Jug, we knew that God was dressed in pajamas but He wasn’t asleep. An article that was published in an Alabama newspaper didn’t speak too well about Aruba. The newspaper in question received a note from the B&W Travel Guide which didn’t see the necessity of traveling to Aruba. Not because there was a boycott called, but for the simple fact that Aruba has nothing to offer.
The B&W Travel Guide called Aruba all sorts of things e.g. banana republic, a corrupt island, a pollution filled environment, a second image of Haiti and so on. What is most highlighted in this article is a summary of a CIA report that doesn’t paint Aruba in a good light where TNI researchers speak about it between the years of 1997 and 2000.
The B&W Travel Guide also spoke of an Aruban who has appeared on American TV screens, and “guess who” they spoke of…ladies and gentlemen, no other than Jossy “bla bla bla” Mansur…behold the proof…
Many of us are remember still that between the years 1997 and 2000, National Security under the direction of Martin Ras, sent a scream to Holland when he took notice of the corrupt and disastrous issues for Aruba at the highest levels of government. More still when Aruba was put on the list of High Risk Regions by U.S. president Bill Clinton.
Names were mentioned and Mansur was among these. Now that Jossy believes that Americans have forgotten, they see the issue against Aruba in its totality and not only against Jossy Mansur.
The B&W Travel Guide expanded a lot on the CIA report which was published by the TNI researchers for Tom Blinkman. A name that Jossy never risks to contradict for his communications.
Today behold Jossy’s same shameful face because the newspaper of Birmingham Alabama, Naked Birmingham, where Beth and Jug Twitty live, did not hesitate to show the fantastic history of Aruba where Jossy’s name appears.
Even Naked Birmigham is of the opinion that Jossy is doing this via international media to spit his vengeance on local authorities and justice officials. If ‘bla bla bla’ Jossy wants to call this then start thinking what they think of him every time that he appears on TV programs. What stands out most is that this article was published on websites where the same Jossy Mansur let his Diario articles be translated. One of them is scaredmonkeys.com.
Check it out. By the way, Jossy, your editorial seemed like whining!!
Congratulations on your achievement, Jossy!

Boycott Aruba? As much as our community aches for the parents, relatives, and friends of Natalee Holloway, the decision to have Governor Bob Riley call for a national boycott of the Caribbean island places the state of Alabama in an unnecessary and rather embarrassing spotlight.
First, the decision appears to be politically rooted; Riley will soon be running for reelection in 2006. Secondly, there are approximately 1,000 missing persons in our state, almost 40 percent of them adolescents, and crime rates in our own cities and towns make Riley’s grandstanding hypocritical.
Third, his hopes to attract enough attention for a national boycott will not happen.
The State Department immediately rebuffed his proposal for an official statement, and it is uncertain if any number of his fellow governors will follow suit. Plus, most boycotts simply don’t work.
Today, the Mansur family is considered to be the largest player on the island.
Many people I spoke to during my visit agree that few things happen on the island without their approval. Jossy Mansur, the editor of the island’s daily newspaper, Diario, has been a familiar face on cable news channels for the last six months despite the fact that his newspaper prints sensational stories about the Holloway case based on sketchy “inside” information that is less than credible. In fact, much of the information printed in his newspaper regarding
Holloway’s disappearance has simply not been factual.
Many believe, as I do, that Mansur is taking advantage of the Holloway case by utilizing the international media to drive his own personal political agenda against local officials. Up to now, Greta Van Susteren, Geraldo Rivera, and others have foolishly played into his game.

No solid data on damage yet
According to Minister of Tourism effects of Holloway case on Aruba have to be measured
DIARIO Aruba
11/23/2005
ORANJESTAD (AAN) – DIARIO interviewed Minister of Tourism and Public Transport Edison Briesen, related to the boycott called against Aruba by Governor of Alabama and Mrs. Beth Twitty, and asked him if our country is feeling its effects. Minister Briesen’s reply was that to deny this is a reality would be dishonest to us.
“Because we have a Task Force that was set up from the beginning of this matter, they started with the case of the disappearance of this young lady. We set up a group on this side for us to evaluate the damage of this, and little by little we have seen that this came upon us, and we have also seen that Mrs. Twitty asked the Governor of Alabama Mr. Bob Riley to go ahead with a boycott. We also mobilized our colleagues in Holland so that they also work on our behalf on a political and diplomatic level”, the mandatory indicated.
Given that there was another governor who also wanted a boycott and postponed this, according to the mandatory the Task Force is doing a good job but they remain with the lack of confidence in the team which has investigated from the beginning the disappearance of Natalee, and this is a difficult position that the government and the people of Aruba cannot change their minds about.
“Even in the last visit of the lady, she sent a letter where she requested that if we could modify or change the group who is conducting the investigation and try to bring forth another investigative group. We told her that the Office of the Attorney General is autonomous and they put in place the team who will investigate, because she asked for people who she believes can assist in this case, according to the mandatory.
Also, the dignitary said that he can see that also in Parliament the petition was made by a member of State, if the government can support the petition of Mrs. Twitty, given that the many people think that here in Aruba there were perhaps things that were not taken care of, like many other people outside of the Prosecutorial Corps believe how the investigation had to take place.
The government still hasn’t done a survey of room occupancy and flights to Aruba, and this is research that they are going to do. But a little time ago, the government had its annual meeting with the top agencies that sell Aruba in America and in what deals with the traditional market that produces tourists to Aruba, they said that they have not felt any effect and that perhaps Aruba is little promotion or none at all in other states that don’t know Aruba in the same way a big group who comes to Aruba annually do and that perhaps with them the matter has had an effect.
The dignitary indicated that the government is taking care of this matter with all diligence, and is not waiting for results to come to Aruba with its hands crossed, to correct the damage that this situation could cause, but has to be prevented for this matter not to escalate.
How big the effect will be, the government doesn’t know still and according the Minister, AHATA will do a survey of its members to see if this case truly will have consequences for Aruba, in what pertains of the influx of tourism from December until the end of high season.

Rainbow Warriors International proposes campaing
Stop the boycott against Aruba with lawsuits in the U.S.
DIARIO Aruba
11/23/2005
ORANJESTAD (AAN): Recently, a possibly boycott by the environmental organization was cancelled by a contract signed by Bouldin and Lawson.
Contrary to what Minister Wever insinuated, Rainbow Warriors International is working in the general interest of Aruba and the rest of the world. This is what Milton Ponson declared last Tuesday night to DIARIO.
The word was that organizations from abroad with the contract of Bouldin an Lawson will be dealt with in House of Commons in Holland and that they will use country regulation publicity of governing board in Aruba and Law publicity of governing board in Holland to bring out ALL documents to the public.
Contrary to what Minister President Nel Oduber wants, giving only ‘for inspection’ document, our organization is of the opinion that the members of parliament of Aruba have every right to demand and obtain copies of ALL documents so that they can control the executive power.
Otherwise, it is then MEP and Minister President Nel Oduber and his cabinet that are rightly managing a banana republic and are giving all the American media who are supporting the boycott called by Governor Riley and Beth Twitty, good reason to call our country corrupt.
According to Ponson, their organization supports a conversation with Mr. Jaap Baujon, member of the Strategic Communication Task Force and offers their services free of charge to help disarm the boycott called against Aruba.
Rainbow Warriors International has ample experience on the topic of boycotts and contrary to what the human rights expert Mrs. Henriquez, the lawyer incorrectly said that any person, group or organization can call a boycott, which in essence is a call for consumers to NOT purchase certain products or services, in the case of Aruba the product is the trip and stay in Aruba.
An economic sanction IS what the United Nations General Assembly can enact against a country. Because of this, any attempt on the part of the Aruban community to let the United Nations intervene is useless, given that we are dealing with a ‘consumer boycott’.
We are in agreement with Mr. Bob DiLella, political consultant of the MEP party, who declared in an article published on November 21, 2005 in Amigoe, that we have to become more aggressive.
To take away Beth Twitty’s strength, her defamation campaign has to be attacked as much as the media who support it as with elected officials, for example governor Bob Riley of Alabama.
Litigation is underway now, where a lawsuit has been initiated, given that among others, Dr. Phil indicated that he is NOT interested in giving the opportunity for ‘rebuttal’, and he isn’t either interested in ‘fair and accurate news coverage’.
It would be good for everyone to realize who Phillip McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, is.
He is co-founder of Courtroom Sciences Inc., a company of litigation consultants which helps big companies that appear on the famous Fortune 500 list, to win cases in court.
It is Dr. Phil’s company who saved Exxon Mobil from paying an insurance claim of more than USD$600 million for the biggest petroleum leak in Alaska’s history with its Exxon Valdez.
It was Dr. Phil who saved Oprah Winfrey’s skin, when she had a multi-million dollar lawsuit against her, after Oprah Winfrey proposed to stop eating beef, due to the risk of mad cow disease.
Undoubtedly, Dr. Phil’s company is assisting Mrs. Twitty in the background. The time has come to grab the bull by the horns and stop pretending that this issue will disappear.
Our opinion as an organization with experience in the boycott arena is to declare that all signs point to this being simply the ‘warm-up phase’. If the MEP government and others want to be political ostriches (with their heads in the sand) ALL in Aruba end up harmed.
Enough with pretty letters to Minister Bot, protests at the Plaza Betico Croes and Open Letters in the press. It is time to act!!! Ponson proposes lawsuits against the media who do not want to provide us with rebuttals and/or fair and accurate news coverage.

American lady gets angry and starts a boycott against Beth Twitty
Lisa was engaged to a known movie actor
DIARIO Aruba
11/23/2005
ORANJESTAD(AAN): On Tuesday, DIARIO received an email directly from a lady, who showed that she has already started a boycott against Beth Twitty.
The lady is called Lisa, and in an interview with the local radio broadcaster Magic F.M. she explained that she was engaged to the well-known actor Jean Michael Vincent and she was mistreated by the actor until she lost her child.
After this it resulted that due to the mistreatment and the mistreatment that she received from the well known singer Billy Idol, she can no longer have children.
She explained that she endured much sadness due to this and she understands Beth Twitty’s sadness, however, she finds it ridiculous that Beth Twitty and all those who support her have started a boycott against Aruba.
Because of this, Lisa decided to start a boycott against Beth Twitty, and sent a press release and email messages to ask for all people around to the world to boycott Mrs. Twitty.
Lisa said that she laments what Twitty is trying to do with Aruba, after everything Aruba did for her. She said that Mrs. Twitty has to stop interfering in the investigation into the case.
Lisa explains that she finds it very ridiculous and irritating that every night Beth Twitty says the same on TV channels, where she has become good friends with all the hosts of these programs, such as Dr. Phil and Greta van Susteren, who she calls by their first names.
Lisa explains that it is very strange that Mrs. Twitty does not shed any tears and this is very noticeable when comparing Mrs. Twitty to the mother of Amy Bradley, who was along on the Dr. Phil program, where Mrs. Bradley after so many years still cries, while Beth Twitty was sitting as nothing had happened.
Lisa explains that she feels that Beth Twitty wants to profit from this whole ordeal.
Lisa also said that she dares Beth Twitty to start a case against her, given that she has the funds to defend herself if necessary.

Requests to boycott Aruba
A.M. Digital
11/23/2005
The Aruba Trade & Industry Association (ATIA) was unpleasantly surprised by Alabama Governor Bob Riley’s call for a boycott against Aruba. Granted, the former real estate agent’s influence on the opinions of people beyond the state’s borders is negligible, but even a small negative impact on our island’s small and vulnerable economy would be most regrettable, especially if this might cause financial hardship on hard working Aruba families.
We understand that the mother of Natalee Holloway cannot help but be emotional. Any mother of a missing girl would be overcome by emotion. We consider this perfectly acceptable. What does disturb us is that a Governor of a state, whose decisions affect the lives of millions of people, allows himself to make decisions based on the emotions felt by a grieving mother.
People in positions of power and authority should hold themselves to higher standards and should base their decisions on facts and logic. Governor Riley should have made serious attempts to get complete and correct information before threatening the livelihood of 100,000 good and hard-working people.
The fact that Birmingham, Alabama was just ranked the 10th most dangerous city in the entire USA, underscores the fact that Governor Riley is trying to divert attention away from his obvious failures in serving his constituency.
ATIA strongly condemns Governor Riley’s irresponsible and unprofessional declarations. We feel that it is most regrettable that a person who is supposed to govern his passions and practice virtue would allow himself to use a small and vulnerable island as a pawn in his bid for reelection.
The call by Governor Riley was followed by another such call by Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, alias “Dr. Phil”. Dr. Phil’s show, which caters to the daytime TV audience, presented a flawed and biased picture of the events surrounding Natalee Holloway’s disappearance. The show also failed to make any efforts whatsoever to get the facts.
Lawsuits over unlawful imprisonment (by Laurie Bembenek) [ed. convicted killer Laurie Bembenek] and unpaid corporate jet bills (US$135,962 worth!) only serve to further undermine the credibility of this “holier-than-thou” individual.
While we do not hold “Dr’ Phil’s” opinions in high regard, we do recognize that his daytime talk show is watched by millions of people around the World, some of which might actually pay heed to his call for a boycott against our beautiful and safe island.
It should be obvious to any intelligent person that hurting the people of Aruba will not help in solving this case.
ATIA has complete confidence in our police department and our prosecution department in the handling of this case. We are proud of our justice system which, over the years, has proven itself to be second to none.
We are also proud of the Aruba people for continuing to support Natalee Holloway’s family in their efforts to find out what happened, and to see justice done in case a crime was indeed committed. We must all continue to be courteous and show the famous Aruba hospitality to all of our guests from abroad, especially to our American guests that choose to visit our island in spite of calls for a boycott.

The former therapist quit his practice in 1989, shortly after being publicly reprimanded by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, a move not taken lightly by that supervisory body. The reprimand was a result of an accusation of sexual abuse by a former patient [ed. false: reprimand was for employing a former client], and as a result Mr. McGraw was placed under a year of supervision by a licensed psychologist. In addition he had to complete physical and psychological exams as well as an ethics class.

Editorial: Natalee and the bla bla bla professors
by Jossy Mansur
DIARIO Aruba
11/21/2005
I didn’t know that in Aruba there were so many professionals who are specialized in bla bla bla, that is to say, those who express their baseless opinions, but what is revealed is their ignorance. There are some media in Aruba who are somewhat politically inclined which have lost notion of reality and which hide the word ‘truth’ behind their forgetfulness.
They can very well continue to wait for a reply from me that will never come, because I am not going to waste time tending to some fanatic blindingly tied to their negative habits of twisting everything and interpreting in their own way what they can’t express or write.
Their sick focus on the case of Natalee has become a pathetic aspect, not because it is difficult to solve, but because of the errors committed and the sentences dictated are obvious to everyone around the world who is aware of them.
It has nothing to do with whether Natalee is alive or not, but with the judge who came from Curaçao who preferred to ignore all the good work that the Aruban police did and the solid presentation of the prosecutor. Are the three suspects guilty or innocent? This will come out because you cannot hide this truth for very long, but sooner or later, it will come to light. On my part, they are innocent if Natalee turns out to be alive!
Some media, addicted to the government of the day converted the case of Natalee into a political circus. We, on the other hand, maintained a posture of looking at the case for what it is, and indicated the factors which came out of the many admissions of the three principal suspects: Joran, Deepak and Satish.
No one has accused them of murder, but they themselves admitted to police during interrogations that something bad happened to Natalee while she was with them, without specifying what ‘something bad’ was! That they admitted to committing sexual abuse against her, is in the admissions they made to the police, also confirmed by the latest videotape by Jamie Skeeters with Deepak, who made important revelations which incriminated all three.
I do not share the opinion that our police agents acted indifferently, or that they intentionally covered up certain details, but I do agree that there were strange things which happened at the beginning of the case that have to be deeply investigated to determine how one or another agent could have diverted, covered or twisted some details which ended up complicating the case more than necessary. My confidence in our agents continues as firm as ever.
It is not extensive that the judge who presided over the case and decided that some things were inadmissible. He could be the best judge in the world, but in this case, he made light of and greatly neglected to pay attention to the three suspects’ admissions, since he didn’t even interrogate them about what was left hanging in the air, such as the declaration of Joran at the beach that he believes that Deepak raped and killed Natalee! How did this matter end there? How were the other accusations and counter-accusations among the three suspects not evaluated for their just content? To say that they are chronic liars is not sufficient; it has to be determined where and how they lied to be able to arrive at the truth.
That Joran is in Holland thanks to the judge? I don’t have a problem with this; where I have a problem is with the official explanation sent to DIARIO from the Justice department specifying that the judge decided to se him free because he expressed his wish to continue with his studies. What will happen if another person in KIA also decides that they want to continue with their studies?
And about the matter of the boycott against Aruba. I have explained on various occasions and on American national media that I am not in agreement with any sort of boycott against our island for any reason.
I have explained to those with a sufficiently open mind to be able to understand, that Aruba has nothing to do with the case, that it is simply the place where it happened, nothing else! Justice is being handled by the Dutch, not by Arubans!
The boycott will be avoided by avoiding crazy statements, imprudent and mismanaged protests and by trying to engage in a dialogue instead of confrontations. We are known around the world as people who are sensible, hospitable and thankful to those who invest in our island and want nothing but good.
Additionally, I am certain that in Aruba we have enough sensible people to intervene and solve the matter in a way that is acceptable for all involved. If we permit that the intention of the boycott continue to grow, then it can become very serious and we all end up losing.
I will let the bla bla bla speakers continue with their subject matter. They exert no influence on me, no matter how many unfounded and unjust attacks are launched against my way of looking at the case, but there is one thing that I will not accept, and that is to tolerate any indirect comment that I could be against the interests of our island.
I have fought a lot and against great forces to defend Aruba; I have confronted countries and contrary interests in our fight for Status Aparte; I have run all sorts of personal risks during the time I fought against the communist current that arrived to Aruba from Grenada and Cuba, propagated by some cell that is still active on our island.
And I continue to be vigilant, now against the current intention to introduce in Aruba a totalitarian way of thinking and acting, in the creation of a sort of government whose negative alliances with neighboring countries, because it will destroy the peace and tranquility which reign on our island.
That I have an enormous respect for Holland? That is categorical! It is not for nothing that I am fighting for us to preserve our Dutch nationality, for us to become part of Europe on our terms, and for us to continue simply rectifying what is wrong in the justice system, which itself is good.
There are some that interpret the system who are deserving of my criticism; not the system itself, which I have categorized on American television as one of the best in the world.
I maintain my opinion, despite that the judge who came from Curaçao to complicate the case and threw it to the wolves. It is through the action of the Dutch judge that the serious problems started for Aruba and it is driving the American national sentiment in a negative direction toward our island.
Look at the problem for what it is, not for what you want to turn it into! It is the sentence of the judge who came from Curaçao which gave rise to the impression that the Dutch justice system is full of holes and open to partial interpretations! And they want to attribute this to Aruba, instead of placing the blame where it should be: in Holland!

Aruban casino owner with criminal past goes to America
Joe Mammana is not permitted to enter Aruba due to his past but how did we end up with Mike Posner?
DIARIO Aruba
11/21/2005
ORANJESTAD (AAN) The case of Natalee is taking other unexpected twists and very negative ones that are going to tarnish Aruba’s image as a safe destination for tourists and investors.
Joe Mammana has a very impressive criminal past in the U.S. but for one reason or another he has found publicity with different cases which have set his image straight and in the case of Natalee, he is trying to find national attention in the US by using sensationalism via the American media.
The government of Aruba recently declared that they will not permit Joe Mammana to enter Aruba.
Related to his past and criminal record, the government took the decision via the Minister of Justice that they cannot let such a person enter Aruba and about this there was information circulating that this Joe person sent a threatening letter to those who were detained in Aruba related to the case of Natalee.
The government’s actions in this case were correct because they cannot let this type of person come to Aruba and believe that they can come do what they see fit on our island, and to boot, Mammana is one of those who is trying, body and soul, to organize an unjust and unjustifiable boycott against Aruba.
What is strange is that the government refuses to let this ex-criminal enter Aruba, but on the other hand, permits another ex-criminal, Mike Posner who is going soon to the U.S. for cases of law violations, to be able to have a business in Aruba, and enter and leave Aruba whenever he wants.
To make matters worse, the person in question, Mike Posner, has been able to obtain a permit to operate a casino, where anyone who wants to have a casino in Aruba and the majority of other countries in the world have to have a clean criminal record.
Recently, this information has started to circulate in the U.S. as well, and seeing that it hasn’t been many days since via the American media false information was given that Aruba is a sort of den for criminals and even terrorists, the matter of the Aruba casino owner with a criminal past in the US, is going to help those who want to implement a total boycott against Aruba.
Wasn’t it in Mike Posner’s casino that the principal suspect in Natalee’s case, Joran van der Sloot, was sitting gambling, despite the fact that he was underage and that never should he have been permitted to enter the casino?
Some weeks back, other media in Aruba came out in vanguard of the ex-criminal Mike Posner and wrote and article that praised Mike Posner for his supposed achievements in Aruba and what interest they had with him, nobody knows.
Now that the government refuses an American ex-criminal entry to Aruba, the government has to justify the reason why until today they continue to permit a person with such a police record such as Mike Posner, can come to set up a business in Aruba, continue to operate his business in Aruba and come and go whenever he wants.
What sort of handling of Justice is there in Aruba and what impact will this case have in the US when the American media start to question the government of Aruba about this matter?
This matter is pending because there are more questionable things here and also the role that certain politicians in Aruba play and continue to play in this matter.
